OSCAR C. APFEL. One of the recruits from the legitimate stage, having directed principal stock companies in Chicago, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Columbus, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, etc. Entered motion picture field in 1911 with the Edison Company, where experience as director and genius for construction at once placed him in the front rank of motion picture directors. After eighteen months with Edison he left to take charge of Reliance and Majestic Studios and brought these brands to the prominence they have maintained in the independent field. Realizing the important factor which the features were bound to become in the film world, he associated himslf with the Lasky Company, for whom he has been producing since this company was organized. Mr. Apfel is the producer of "The Squawman," "Brewster's Millions." "The Master Mind," "The Only Son," "The Man On the Box," "The Making of Bobby Burnet" and 'Ready Money."
