ffi TRDOCK J. MacQUARRIE. Universal character star. To Mr. MacQuarrie alone belongs the distinction of being the only character actor in the moving picture world who is being starred and featured in leading character parts. Perhaps the best tribute to his wonderful talent is expressed in the following words which Mr. Carl Laemmle, president of the Universal Film Manufacturing Company, issued to the public before the release of the celebrated picture, "The Hopes of Blind Alley": "I want you to note the superb work done by Murdock MacQuarrie in 'The Hopes of Blind Alley,' a '101' Bison feature soon to be released. Mr. MacQuarrie has evidenced his genius and versatility in every picture in which I ever saw him, but he never had quite such a good chance to show his wares as in 'The Hopes of Blind Alley.' Possibly I am chicken-hearted, but I must confess that Mr. MacQuarrie Drought the tears to my eyes. Think of it! tears from a film manufacturer." Address: Universal Film Company, Hollywood, Cal.
