HOOVER PHOIO ^y^ILLIAM WORTHINGTON. Born and educated in Troy, New York. | I J Graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, being a member of the D \MS K. E. Fraternity. His first stage experience was in stock in Troy and Albany, afterwards going to New York City, where he appeared for several years under some of the best managers, afterwards deciding to take up a grand opera career. Mr. Worthington spent several years in Europe, studying under some of the best masters of voice culture. While in Germany he met and married his present wife, who was Miss Elmer Frauenholz of San Francisco, Cal., who was at that time also studying abroad. Besides his musical education, while in Europe he mastered French and German, which languages he speaks fluently. On his return to America he took up an operatic and concert career, his last engegement being with Henry W. Savage as stage director and dramatic player for three seasons. Was engaged direct from "The Everywoman Company" while playing the coast in 1913 by the Universal Company, Los Angeles, where he now is playing leads and characters. Among his recent successes are Damon in "Damon and Pythias," General Washington in "J. Fennimore Cooper's Spy," and Thenright in Clara Louise Burnham's "The Open Shutters."
