CONSTANCE CRAWLEY. Started her stage career in England with Beerbohm Tree, remaining with him for three years. Then followed a tour of South Africa, with Alfred Haviland, with a series of classic and Shakespearean plays. This tour was taken during the time of the South African war. On her return to London, played Roma in "The Eternal City," which was the rage of the British Isles. She then came to America and toured the States with "Everyman," afterwards presenting "A Florentine Tragedy" on the Orpheum circuit. Then folowed playing before the camera, the first picture being "Peleas and Melisande," with Arthur Maude, under J. Farrell McDonald, for the Universal Film Company. Among numerous photoplays that she has done remarkable work in may be mentioned "A Florentine Tragedy," "Bride of Lammermoor," "Mary Magdalene," "Jess," "Thais," and many others.
