pé Of production deans Wace) + nc Nae ee > 2 reel comedy
[he dog in this comedy spoils the wedding by running off with the The couple, however, decide to elope at midnight. Instead of finding his bride waiting for him, the groom found her father and six policemen and a good deal of damage is done in the scenes that follow. After a wild chase the would-be groom is finally brought before the judge who pronounces his sentence in the form of a marriage indictment, much to the anger and surprise of the father and joy of the bride. The judge goes still further and sentences the unwilling father to write a big check in favor of the newly There is much in this comedy that is very unconvincing, in spite of the novel twist in the ending. It could stand a good deal of cutting, for as it is it makes but a fair comedy production.

Clyde Cook in “The Sailor”—Fox Type of prodtttion..... is... 0.0 seas cetemetome me « 2 reel comedy
The title gives it away. The Fox comedian becomes a sea-going Tony and most of the laughs come through his maneuvering aboard ship. “The Sailor” isn’t as consistently funny as “The Guide” and some others, and Cook uses a few very old gags although most of them are still good and get laughs. The comedian has a tendency to spoil the comedy effect of his stunts more than once by keeping it up too long. For instance in the opening reel he fools around a dock where a pile driver is in operation. He just avoids being

“bumped off” at every drive. This is good at first but gets monotonous. The best comedy is in the second reel when “The Sailor’ is washed ashore on to a cannibal island. There’s some fine laughs in this, especially when Cook gets out the Dominoes and “shoots” the Queen for her crown

“The Country Mouse and the City Mouse”—Aesop-Pathe Type of productiogie ys. 6 ccceeue tee = age 1 reel animated
This follows along the lines set in the previous productions of this series of animated cartoons illustrating Aesop’s fables. It opens with the city mouse driving out into the country in his flivver. On the road he runs short of water and stops off at a farm where, grateful for the hospitality that he received, he invites his farmer host to visit him in the city. This the farmer does, but not without a good many difficulties and adventures that arise from the complex life in large towns. At length the farmer mouse is pleased to arrive home safely. “Contentment is greater than riches” is the moral that is flashed upon the screen near the finish, but this hardly follows as a conclusion to what happened before. Somehow or other the logic is poor. Because the country mouse is wretched in town, it does not follow that he is contented in the country. Another far fetched analogy follows as a conclusion in the form of a cartoon showing the evils of discontented capital and labor.
