Courtrai, Belgium. A brief experience on the stage, during which she went to America with the Bitter Sweet company. A small part in The Star Reporter (Westminster, 1932) followed. Charles Bickford, whose flaming hair is said to be the reddest in Hollywood, began life as a stoker in the American Fleet. This was followed by a commission in the v/orld war as a Lieutenant of Engineers. A period of ten years on the stage after the war preceded his film debut, made in Dynamite (M.G.M., 1929). BIRD, Richard. B. 1895. Has played successful parts on the London and New York stages, among them being the lead in America in Journey's End. Had his first taste of screen work during the making of a few shorts in 1919, but it was not until 1930 that he played a prominent part in a full length production. Has travelled in most European countries, working in Germany, Austria, England and America. Was given her first screen opportunity in Cape Forlorn by Dupont, at that time producing for B.I.
