Made her first stage appearance at Sheffield in 1921, as Paddy in Paddy the-Next-Best-Thing, subsequently appearing in London, 1925, for the first time. Apart from this, a brief experiment she had made in motion pictures some years previously had been a failure, and left an impressive mark on her meraor\'. In time, however, the offer of a part opposite John Gilbert in His Glorious Night (IM.G.M., 1929) lured her from the stage, and began for her a second career.
