Döbler führte das KalklichtMikroskop in Deutschland ein (C. H. P f a f f aus Kiel in Poggendorffs Annalen d. Physik u. Chemie 40, 547, 1837). Als Erfinder des Kalklichtes ist (aufs Jahr 1822) der englische Arzt Goldworthy G u r n e y anzusehen, der in seiner 1823 erschienenen Schrift ,,A course of lectures on the elements of chemical science" darüber berichtet. Ausführlicheres bei W. Nie mann ,,Die Entdeckung des sogen. Drummond-Lichtes", Archiv f. d. Geschichte d. Naturwissenschaften u. d. Technik, 5, 202, 1914; ferner Liese gang, „Die Erfindung des Kalklichtes und seine erste Anwendung im Bildwerfer vor 100 Jahren". Licht und Lampe 1925, S. 265. — Der engl. Leutnant Drumm o n d , nach welchem das Licht vielfach benannt wird, benutzte es 1825 zu Signalzwecken bei Vermessungen: Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, London 1826, Part 3, S. 324; Parliamentary Papers, Reports from Commitees, Lighthouses, Vol. 12, 1834, S. 171. — Komprimierten Sauerstoff und Wasserstoff zur Kalklichtbereitung stellte die London Stereoscopic and Photogr. Co. ihren Kunden in ihrer Preisliste von 1868 in Aussicht. Nach Chadwick, The Magic Lantern Manual, London 1878, S. 49, wurden diese komprimierten Gase damals (1878) in Amerika handelsmäßig hergestellt und wenig nach England eingeführt. 1837. Der Londoner Optiker Pritchard benutzt bei der mikroskopischen Projektion versuchsweise den dreifachen Kondensor,1) den im Jahre zuvor Andrew R o s s angegeben haben 22
